885. Pitaya Smoothie Bowl

Smoothie bowls have been all the rage in culinary 2015. It is exactly what the name entails: a smoothie poured in a bowl. The difference is that in a regular smoothie you blend all the fixings (seeds, other fruit, etc) in and slurp the lot. Smoothie bowls allow you to see your toppings and eat them like soup in a bowl.
The fruit smoothie base and the toppings are really up to you. The pitaya smoothie bowl has soared in popularity because of its natural vibrant magenta color. Pitaya is the Thai name for dragon fruit. Note that dragon fruit can come white fleshed and magenta fleshed, yet both look essentially the same form the exterior.

Ingredients:

1 dragon fruit
1 Tbsp chia seeds
1/2 banana
1 tsp pumpkin seeds
1 tsp sunflower seeds
1 Tbsp granola
1 Tbsp ground flax seeds

Method:

Peel the dragon fruit, chop roughly and blend to a liquidy puree.
Pour the puree in a bowl.
Arrange the sliced banana and other toppings decoratively over the surface of the smoothie bowl and the sooner consumed the better.
